Some users of the AOL web browser may experience blury and degraded graphics.
AOL uses a modified version of Microsoft Internet Explorer that "compresses" graphics into an .ART format so that they will load slightly faster.
This compression happens by default. But you can turn it off and experience our web graphics to their fullest.
To turn the AOL graphics compression off varies by AOL version. AOL support groups and discussion lists can properly guide you to the exact steps for your particular configuration.
To turn off AOL graphics compression:
- Click MY AOL from the top menu bar.
- Choose PREFERENCES.
- Click WWW.
- Click the WEB GRAPHICS tab.
- Un-check the box for USE COMPRESSED GRAPHICS.
After you RELOAD the site, if you are still seeing compressed graphics they you will want to clear your CACHE. This too varies by configuration.
To clear your CACHE:
- Click MY AOL from the top menu bar.
- Choose PREFERENCES.
- Click WWW.
- Click on DELETE FILES.
- Click on CLEAR HISTORY.
- Reload the site by clicking the RELOAD button.
